Put stuff away. 9:45 Realize I'm not hot on 1) OS/2 (nothing new for apps design) 2) Networks (transparent apps usually) 3) Database engine (in ext'd edition) 4) Windows (chunky - prefer Mac) If this is so, I don't have much to offer to next generation of PC's. [note at the end of the page] Conclude that my interest in all this has got to stem from interest in an app, since I've done Windows all I want, and OS/2 and DB stuff and networks don't intrigue me. 10:00 Watch Carmen that I taped in April. 11:30 To bed.

I put switch on the wrong side of the A-B box -- actually I put it on the side connected to "the system" but it turns out it was the normal channel, not unscrambled #3. Begun on 7/12. So I realize I can put switch in middle of box to get best Channel 5, ie disconnected, and one side for Cable channel + other side for Pay TV. 10:45 Get ready for bed!

PRINT ANOTHER BOOK VALUE ASSET AND LIABILITY REPORT FOR JULY 1 TO HIDE UNUSED (ZERO) ACCOUNTS. STAPLE AND PUT AWAY WITH NET WORTH. 9:15 Start on budgets. Make List on Yellow Paper. Go through all accounts and put budget on paper, but zero accounts to be sure Money budget account goes to zero. Yeh!!! Make initial cut at budgets. Takes only 1/2 hour to enter!! Save, Quit, backup. Think about my plan. No need to sell MS stock now. Could wait till Nov (middle) for LTCG. And I expect it to be higher by then. And use it to pay of car + finance other things. 6:45 Wake up. J/O w/ Butch Barnes (Feb 81) 7:00 Got up. Misc. Start laundry load. At breakfast, read Consumer Reports on Mutual Funds. Very interesting chart showing how few funds actually out perform the S&P 500! Even Mutual Shares was just barely below S&P for last 5 yrs! So why would I be interested in investing in the funds? Less risk, says CR. Read a couple Mutual Fund Investor Almanac shows S&P index as #106 out of 284. Fidelity Magellan as #1. Very far outperformed S&P significantly. 9:30 Got ready to go to gym. Work out taking it easy on shoulder 11:30 Tan at the Body 12:00 Shower. Unusually nice crowd! But I'd thought about how much to do before I can leave, while tanning, so I didn't dally. Went home. MISC. 12:30 Make + eat lunch. Finish looking at Mutual Fund Forecaster issues. Go to corner drug store for contact lens solution and to copy a couple of pages from Consumer Reports, to put into blue notebook, annotated with risk ratings from Mutual Fund Forecaster.
