he is at home Eliza and Ann are at home & in
health, Susanna has been these 3 weeks with
Mrs Corvosso in Windsor she is well as is to return
next week. Things go on better than I expected
at home (Mothers) but O! there is no earthly head
which causes a very great vacancy. we miss
our dear Father. he can come no more to
assist and all we can or ought to do is to prepare
and follow him I did hope and pray this mel
ancholy event would have stired up the family
to more diligent inquirery after the Salvation
of their Souls, but Alas, we seem to be where
they left us and we no more diligent after the
things which ought to concern us most. What
shall I say we need why we nead an inch?
of every grace O! for a deeper plunge in that
blissful ocean, that sea of love, O that he woud
touch our lips with a live "coal from off the
alter and take away our iniquity," then we
should be what he would have us be. (Now our selves)
I thank a Merciful God that we (me & my dear Walter)
are so well as we are which is not quite the thing tho'
slight colds owing to the change of wether (rains)
we still are in the little house I described before
and expect to give birth to a second immortal
soul, I have been honoured in helping people heaven
and frequently ask myself can I spare the next?
it seems hard still I can say the Will of the Lord
be done. We are expecting Mr Leigh with 6
more Missionaries every day, when new changes
will take place, it is likely we then according to our

[MS 581]
appointment will leave this for Tongataboo tho'
it was not proposed by us but a misunderstand
ing of Mr Leigh, neither did we at all like the thought
of it or intend to go not-withstanding appointment
when first we heard, but after more deliberation
and prayer and the way of Providence opening
more clear we shall if God will proceed on
our way with our lives in our hands. my greatest
trial I think will be not seeing you once more
according to my expectation, still this seems
not too great a sacrifice for God, I view all
the dark sides possible and very many there.
When my heart a little fails me again I think well
the Gospel appears to be received almost every
? and why not among the poor benighted people
? Tongataboo and if the Lord be for you who can
be against you. Mother does not seem to feel it
much she very seldom mentions a word concer-
ning it. Most people say don't go let someone
else go but who will list and shall we loose
a bright jem from our Crown in going were
the Lord calls, I hope not, and trust always to be found
in the path of duty, we shall not go with an intent
of stopping more than 3 years when we hope to go
on a visit to our dear friends, who desire it very
much in England then return to my native Land
to spend the remainder of our life this is our plan
which we have formed and wether it will be executed
we let it rest with God and are truly happy, I ?
now close, ? a line or two of news. Mr How the Printer is gone
to his long home. We must leave him to God & we have hope in Mr
Arndell's death. Friday the black boy is gone he resigned is breath in the
School he was not afraid to die here it must rest. Mrs Eager has a soul
