[MS 1583]
go up for the next [indecipherable]
for cadets and if he did will
I daresay I could get the
Sur Genl [Surveyor General] to let him come to
me under salary
I mentioned it to Mr Adams
but he was too busy at the
time to attend to me
I don't know when the examination
takes place but I fancy
it is just whenever they want
them
However I will speak to Mr Adams
when he returns and if Bob
could get into the Office for a
time & then go out into the field
it would in my opinion be better
for him than going into the

field at once
a fellow to get on ought to have
a Knowledge of the executive of the
office and also get an idea
of drawing before he goes out
with a Surveyor for he cant [can't]
learn those things in Camp
very well.
Besides if he goes out from the
Office as cadet to one of the
Govt-Surveyors [Government] he at once gets
a position in the service and
a salary of 100 £ tp boot.
He would get along much faster
in my opinion if he started
his field practice with a
fair amount of Knowledge of
the Office part
yours in haste
