[MS 1587]
written to Sydney for advice in order to know
if I can by any means reach his paddocks. I
have lost 72 head some of which cost me £12.10 per
head. 3 blood mares were also taken from my pad
docks by stealth. I can get no clue to their whereabouts
The action for trespasses will probably be resumed
as it was not annihilated by suspended.
I was legally advized [advised] in Sydney to apply to the [indecipherable]
to know if the crown would disclaim all right of property
to my property owing to my conviction. I have done
so through the medium of Mr Bennett M.P.
I have not heard the result. I am anxiously awaiting
to hear about ^it^ & also what steps to take as regards
my [indecipherable] trial the Attorney Gen [General] has said he kne
w nothing of my trial being removed to Tamworth.
I find on looking at the notice requesting my appearance
at that place that it is so ordered by Mr Butler
& that it [indecipherable] distinctly ^unasked of the^ [indecipherable] the 12th of Sept [September] (crossed out word)
Maitland.
I had the pleasure of the Revd [Reverend] Mr Lewis's company
on Thursday last who kindly called on me,
I find he has worked very hard for me also
In a private letter to his Excellency he attacked
Judge [Geymot?] severely the Judge came from
Sydney to Mr Lewis & begged of him to write no

more such letters. Mr Lewis told him he would
always do his duty. & fear no man [indecipherable] court his [favour?]
His honour can not be a lover of a [indecipherable] truth as
his statements to his reverend [Reverend] were decidedly false
One of which I will mention as it may not be out of
place. He said I gave Mr [Buchan?] every opportunity
to provide his witness who was absent referring to
[indecipherable] who came with [Wallabadah?], according
to one of the witnesses evidence the day before.
I even postponed the case for him. Mr Lewis thinks
he said to the second day my case was postponed
for about 20 mins not to favour me in anyway.
I can not say positively why it was put off it
certainly was not for my benefit
Mr Lewis also sent in a petition to his Excellency
placing before him, the anomalous proceedings
of my trial & the expectant charge of Wisdom
to present my affidavit. Mr Lewis staked £10 being
the charge which was untrue, it was a mistake
on my mothers part. I told her it cost me
nearly ten pounds. The Governor wrote back &
said the petition could not be counted and
as a patron of petition was untrue. Mr Wisdom
denying having received more than 3.3.
Mr Wisdom must either tell an untruth
or Patterson the Solicitor must have obtained
the money under a false pretence. I gave him a
cheque for £5.5. the day before the trials the next
