Miles Franklin pocket diary, 1910

MON. AUG. 29, 1910 76 -64 Went up to Cook's as usual. Corn roast at invitation of Cooks on Beach. All cottages invited.

TUESDAY 30 Went up to dinner Stayed in bed between whiles. Very poorly. Miss Phelps brought me down my supper.

WEDNESDAY 31 Very poorly - Kept quiet. Fires night & morning

THURS. SEPT. 1, 1910 Lovely day but summer all gone. Slept in hammock in afternoon. Walked for mail & home by Forest Beach Inn.

FRIDAY 2 Lovely day. Misses Hogin & Flavin called in morning. Mrs Manierre & Julie in afternoon. Walked with Mrs Thompson after supper.

SATURDAY 3 Great scouring & cleaning of Bungalow. Dull day. Slept in hammock in afternoon. Fine nearly all day. Editha left for Cook's after supper

SUN SEPT. 4, 1910 Farewell to bungalow caught Manitou at 12.15. Miss Pease & I slept during afternoon & went to bed early. Had dinner in dining room otherwise depended on cucumber apples raw eggs.

MONDAY 5 Reached Chicago at 8.30 Lovely & warm. Melting in my flannels. At 12 E. Indiana St Went to see Mrs Robins after supper.

TUESDAY 6 Worked in the office steadily Had a rest after 4p.m. Miss Henry came for dinner & we had a great talk after.

WED. SEPT. 7, 1910 Went to office at 8. Out to lunch with Steghagen & Nestor

THURSDAY 8 Went to Mrs Robins Stayed for lunch. Miss Henry came in after dinner

FRIDAY 9 55 -64 Office meeting at Mrs Robins at 9.a.m. Stayed for lunch & came down town with Mrs Robins to off.

SAT. SEPT. 10, 1910 65 -54 After lunch called on Editha, saw about type writer & piano. After dinner went to Ex. Bd. Meeting 79 Dearborn St

SUNDAY 11 65 After lunch took Carrie Flesch to monthly meeting. Miss H. walked home with me on way to Editha's

MONDAY 12 Piano [previous word underlined] Miss Henry & I Went down to lunch with Mrs F. S. Potter at the Southern Hotel. Dr De Bey joined us. We discussed magazine & Mrs Potter' s lecture engagements
