Sunday, Jan. 4, 1914 Lola called up & invited me out to meet Demmy but it was raining. I worked in my room all day at 5 called for Editha & we went to the Little Theatre thence to League Anniversary dinner at Thompson's. Mitchell star speaker. Walked home with Editha & little O'Neil girl.

Monday 5 Went to Dr Schiff at 9 but teeth were too nervous to do anything. Pottered in office. Did nothing. Staff meeting of "L&L" from 3 to 5. Wm B called up to invite me to opera, refused. Maquay called up. Owing to insomnia put in one of the ghastliest days of irritation conceivable. Walked home & worked till 8.30.

Tuesday 6 In office all day. Went to banks & got draft ready to send mother. Demmy called up & asked me out next day. He met Ethel & I on the corner as we were leaving the office. Miss Phelps' party in evening very jolly. Mr Wynne played & Miss Byrne sang. Maquay & Mr Arnold there Slept with veranal

Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1914 Dr. Schiff put temporary filling in tooth at 3.30. Got to the office at 10:30. Lunch with Ethel at Hearth. At six o'clock Demmy came & we had dinner at La Salle. Thence to "Fanny's First Play" . Thence to College Inn for Supper. Thence driving north in taxi & got home at 1.15. Wonderfully warm day. No need of furs. Just had coat on only. Slept with veranel.

Thursday 8 Mr [Brais?] & another man called. Ethel & I had lunch at Hearth. Then Wm B. Lloyd asked me to lunch again with him & Demmy at Union Restaurant. Asked me to matinee but couldn't go. Had League meeting at School of Civics & Phil. Back to office. Dinner at Hearth with Editha. Walked home alone very exhausted. Still wonderfully warm. Slept well & naturally

Friday 9 Got to office at 9.30. D. Lloyd came at 12 & we went in taxi & had lunch at Blackstone. Went to call on C.S. practitioner but she wasn't in. Returned to office at 2. Wm B. made a long call. Ethel & I went to Hearth to dinner then to Stenographers' meeting then to artist fête at 1st R Armory & home at 12.15.

Saturday, Jan. 10, 1914 Got to office at 10. Lunch at Hearth alone. Worked all afternoon. Margaret O'Neil came in & I engaged her to come Jan 19. Mrs Robins came in & we had a talk. Wrote letters for Australian mail. Dinner down stairs. Home at 6.30 slept till 8 then pottered & worked till late.

Sunday 11 Got up at noon & worked a while. Went to League meeting to vote. Thence to "Parsifal" with Wm B. Lloyd. Dinner in inter - mission at Congress hotel. Opera out at 10.50. Came home & made some cocoa wrote a little note went down & posted it & went to bed - couldn't sleep because wind made a door on roof swing.

Monday 12 Got to office at 9.30. Lunch at Hearth & saw Editha. Wm B L called to bring me a book. Mrs Robins came during afternoon. At 4 I went over to see Miss Russell & little Billy at Presbyterian Hospital. Back to office then to dinner at Hearth & home. Slept till 8 & then worked a while.

Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1914 Worked very busily in office all day Dinner at Hearth alone then home and worked a little on MSS. Went to bed & slept well so was in good spirits

Wednesday 14 Worked very busily in office all day. Lunch at Hearth with Ethel. In the evening we all went to a supper party at Mrs Robins. Miss H. Agnes & E. Maloney spoke. I brought Ethel to N.W. Station at 10 & then home. Wm B. made a long call in morning. Mrs Robins in from 12.30 to 4 p.m.

Thursday 15 Frightfully busy getting out report of League work for A.F. of L. [American Federation of Labor] Ex. Council meeting. Mrs Robins came at noon till 5. Wm B. L. came & took me to lunch at Union Restaurant or I would have forgotton to eat. Got thru at at 9 o'clock came home and strummed a little

Friday, Jan. 16, 1914 Wm B.L. made a short call in the morning. Mrs Robins in again driving things along. Dinner with Wm B. Lloyd at Congress Hotel. Afterwards a company of us went to see "Manon". I sat with Miss Boynton & her little protégée & went home with them. J. Manierre on same car busily blowing her horn as usual. Terribly warm

Saturday 17 Got down at 10. Mary Anderson came over & I wrote letters for her & went to lunch with her. Worked hard till 4.30 then went to John Crerar to read. Lunch at Hearth. Mrs R. in during forenoon. Wm B.L. called up to invite me to opera on Thursday night. Took sick at night from over fatigue.

Sunday 18 Warm & snowing. Stayed in bed very sick till 2. Then got up & pottered & felt very sick. Ate nothing all day but cocoa & biscuits & never went off my floor. Prepared "The Net of Circumstance" for England.
