Rev'd E. Robinson & Rev'd W Mills preached in the
morning - Rev'd G Woolnough aftern'n and
Mr. J. Roberts a Bible class in the eve'g whilst I was at
church.
All the inmates were clean, orderly and attentive
at the services, and in health, in number 36.
Monday 14th
We cannot let anyone sew, this week, as we
have so much wash'g on hand - and most of the
inmates are young. the work does not
progress as we would wish. they are so volatile,
unless either of us are with them - they wont
work.
Tuesday 15th
Mary Lyons is in quarantine, perhaps being
in the laundry makes her worse, so have
tried what she will do in the mangle room, she
will be more alone there. Miss Galbraith
is not able to get up. I wrote for the Doctor, and
he came this eve'g and prescribed for her.
Wednesday 16th
I had to tell Jenny Dolly and Mary Mack that they
were idle, and hoped they would be more diligent
for the future, altho this was told them [underlined] gently [end underlined] Jenny was so angry that she demanded to go out, refused to do anything she was sent to the Cottage. at dinner time I sent her dinner
when tea time, her tea was sent, this softened her and she
said to H. Venkeith "to think of Mrs Roberts sending me
dinner & tea, after me behaving so dreadful bad."
I went at dusk to remonstrate with her, and try to throw the folly
and madness in going out without characters &c. she at last yielded promising to behave better and work as she ought. | FL104098831867
