FL104100211868. October 8th. Friday 9th. The S.S. 'Ruahines' linen was brought in this morning. and whilst it was being counted, M.A. Burns went [underline] raving mad [end underline]. cursing & swearing. declaring she would cut our throats, hurling stones at the gate, demanding to go out, either by "fair or foul means." snatched hold of the gate bell, broke it, dashing[underlined] it to the ground[underlined]. I sent for Dr. Renwick but he was out. I then sent for the Police. Sergant Kerr came, he "knew her of old", he talked to her for some time and she Saturday 10th. I went to Central Market at ¼ past 6 oclk, purchased our weekly supply of vegetables 5/. after breakfast. and arranging the mornings work, I went to the Panama office and received payment for last months washing £36 - 10. with which I called on my way home at the Treasurer's office and waited in the passage an hour and 10 minutes. but as he did not come.
