Dear Robert:

Your letter of July 4th was duly
received and is one of the most interesting letters
that I have had for a long time, - I have a great
mind to transcribe your account of the Prairie
Chicken for publication in the Proceedings of
the Academy - it is not only interesting but of
scientific value - suppose you prepare a
regular paper on "The Natural History of the Tetrao
Cupido," by Robert Kennicott, West Northfield
Illinois. - I will see that it is printed in our
Proceedings, - incorporate into it all that you
have written to me and you will make a paper
on this bird, worth reading - in fact the only
full account of it ever published, -

I am afraid though that you cannot remember
the particulars of in your last letter to me and
so will send back that portion of it, if you wish
- do try your hand at this paper -

Your letter containing specimens of Locusts
was duly received - I am fully convinced that
there are two species - and that Cicada Cassinii
is a good and distinct species.
