As an apple is not in any proper
sense an apple until it is ripe: so a
human being is not in any proper
sense a human being until he is
educated.
He that would change with another
must take the cup as it is mixed
Poverty with largeness of heart or a
[illegible] purse with a sordid spirit.
Planets govern not the soul nor guide
the destiny of man
But trifles lighter than straws are
levers in the building up of character
Judge not of things by their events
neither of character by providence
And [?] not a man [?] evil
because he is more unfortunate
For the blessings of a better covenant
he not in the sunshine of prosperity
But pain and chastisement the rather
show the wise Father's love
