him."

This man Gardner testified his appreciation of my services,
shorly afterwards, by making me a very appropriate present-;
he brought me around one night, wrapped in a newspaper, the
body of a little dead negro boy-, born dead-; shrivelled like
a mummy -- I accepted it thankfully, and carried it to my
workroom at the College next day -- no one suspecting the contents
