It is certainly a very hard case upon me as the administrator had not offsets -- and if I had known it in time I should have made the proper defence -- the County Court of Halifax had adjourned earlier than was expected, that Mr Burges might go to the assembly. I therefore had no opportunity of seeing Mr Clark as he had left town before my return.
