Clear & pleasant -- Warm -- Rose at 6 -- breakfast -- Train for California sharp on time for 1st time since cut rates started in -- Left for Va on time -- Detained at Mound House about an hour by a wrecked ore train just below Silver City switch -- Happened about 5 oclock PM yesterday -- Broken axle, nobody hurt -- 13 dumps badly mashed, We arrived at Va 11:30 -- Work as usual -- Bed 3 --

Same -- Bought the chemicals for a proposed dose of ["Rx Magaus"?] -- Evening work as usual -- Bed at 3 -- tired -- Got letter from Lew Stevenson -- Also from ZA Willard, Murphy's, Calaveras -- He was Lizzie's friend when she was on the Pacific Coast --
