Cold, stormy & disagreeable -- First premonitory touch of Winter -- AM clouded up heavily & at 1:30 PM it commenced raining & snowing furiously, the snow in big

Dem Primaries -- Comp to State Fair

flakes melting as fast as fell -- heavy thunder accompanied storm for nearly an hour -- A few light showers rest of day, & in evening -- Bed at 2, mostly clear but almost freezing -- Democratic primaries today for delegates to Country convention Oct 5 -- Only one ticket in field -- very quiet -- Recd complimentary ticket for self & wife to Reno Fair next week -- from Secy C H Stoddard -- Wrote personal letter to him acknowledging receipt -- My hay fever is passing out of head, nose & eyes going down throat into lungs -- Have a very bad cough & am so hoarse can hardly speak last 2 days -- Eyes & nose nearly well -- Left off my eye-shade glasses today -- My cold very bad, almost croupy -- Had to get up at 8 this morning, make fire & get cup of tea -- Hot lemonade tonight when go to bed --
