Cloudy & cool -- PM about town -- Evening Grand Democratic ratification meeting at Piper's Opera House -- Bonfires in front on B st and in front of International and [Gillings?] on C st -- Opera House well filled of course -- I took a front seat -- cold & uncomfortable -- Hon Geo W Cassidy talked an hour & 20 minutes -- band of music etc -- I ran with Johnny [Tregoner?] of Gold Hill & others awhile -- Bed at 2 -- Sent letter to Jeff Hull, Assessor of Lander County, at Austin this evening enclosing $2 greenback to pay my tax on old cabin property -- $50 -- $3.60 per $100 -- $1.80 --

Clear & cold -- nearly freezing in the shade all day -- Much political buzzing everywhere -- I was about considerably -- Evening at Opera House -- Play the "Two Colonels" -- Very funny -- Company direct from the East -- Include the Heely Brothers, the "king high kickers of the World" -- Wonderful acrobats and contortionists -- Bed at 3 --

Same -- PM was about town -- Evening at theater -- Play was "Muldoon's Picnic" -- Very funny -- Home at 12 -- At 12:30 very lively fire at a wooden building or woodshed on B st, short distance north of my room -- I ran to it -- The firemen made very short
