Tuesday Feb 8

Took morning train for Carson -- Snowing good -- 2 inches on ground -- Called on Dr Southworth at Carson -- He polished off my last fillings -- Paid him his bill of only $14 for his dental work on me -- cheaper then I thought -- Reported as usual --

Va High School at Reno Snow
Old "Pike" hurt

Class A, Va High School -- came down on morning train on visit to Carson -- 15 young ladies & 1 young man -- Prof J E [ ] with them -- they took a look at the Public Schools, Orphans Home, State Prison, Capitol, State Printing House, etc & went home on evening train -- I went also -- Lots of singing -- Snowed all the PM in Carson & Va -- About 4 inches of snow in either place -- Bed at 2 -- George ("Pike") Allen, my next room neighbor got badly hurt night before last in the Con Va mine -- Was unloading 12 x 12 [ ] from a cage at 1500 station -- Had one in his arms
