Cloudy & chilly -- PM & evening showery -- PM, funeral of Wm Kimball -- At noon most of day, sewing, etc -- Bed 12 -- clear & cold --

1891 -- Odd Fellows Election -Last Shirt Cremated --

Monday June 1, 1891

Cloudy & raw with a shower or two -- At room most of day, sewing, etc -- Evening at Lodge -- Election of officers for term (6 mos) -- Then went to Enterprise, wrote report of election, account of Kimball's funeral -- etc -- Bed 1 -- cold -- almost to freezing -- cremated the last ragged & dirty remnants of those shirts I sent East for from Austin 8 yrs ago or more -- cooked my breakfast with 'em --

Same -- About town -- Evening a telegram to the Enterprise from Carson told of the suicide of T D Edwards -- I added historical or biographical of him to it from my own data, for Enterprise -- Bed 3 --

Same -- AM a light shower, or two -- At room most of day, carpentering, etc -- PM, W P Bennett called, also Jose Salinas with banjo belonging to Campbell of the

At Gold Hill -- Centennial pay gravel -- New Centennial Stock -- Bennett $2 -- The SF Alta California Dead --

Thursday June 4

Clear & Pleasant -- Took noon bus to Gold Hill -- Was up to W P Bennett's room for and hour or so, writing etc for him -- Paid me $2 for it -- Was at Army office -- got my new stock on the stock divident arrangement, 500 shares in one price and 493 shares in another -- 993 shares in all -- got also a small sack full of the gravel recently sent over from the new strike in the mine -- about 5 lbs -- Home on the 3:30 'bus -- About town -- Evening at Enterprise -- Bed 3 --

Friday June 5

Same -- Busy at room most of day fixing up big boxes etc -- Evening down town -- Dined with Frank Kearney at the French Rotisserie -- Bed at 12 -- The old Alta California, newspaper San F, suspended on Tuesday last for want of nourishment --

Saturday June 6

Same -- PM about town -- Frank Kearney left on the evening train to go to his brothers and sisters in Lexington Kentucky -- I saw him off -- He will visit my folks in Reno this evening or tomorrow -- Evening I was at Opera House -- George C Staley, Dutch dialect comedian with a fair stock company in "A Royal Pass" -- Pretty good play and fair house -- about 1/2 house -- Enterprise awhile, reading proof etc -- Bed 1:30 --

Sunday June 7

Finest day of season and quite an eventful one -- About noon McGurn's 4 horse team just in with a load of freight from Reno, discharged cargo at store and ran away down street, dumping driver & turning the wagon over on side -- Was stopped opposite Post office -- Little damage -- At 3 PM the following took place, as per adverticement in Chronicle and Enterprise: [newspaper clipping here] A big crowd saw

A Lively Sabbath -- A Keg of Beer Goes up and Down Mt Davidson --

him off from the International corner at C st -- he passed up C & Tayler sts & returned same way -- made it in 1 hour & 20 minutes to Flagstaff on the summit of Mt Davidson, & 2:25 the round trip -- Quite a number were along up the mountain to see fair play etc -- and a crowded, enthusiastic street full hurrahingly accompanied him down C st to his goal, landing the keg where he took it from -- performing the feat triumphantly in 2 hours and 25 minutes -- And he didn't seem much worried over it either -- he is regularly employed by the Electric Light Co, taking care of the

Clear & pleasant - About town - Evening I wrote account of the big fire calemity in the Gold Hill mines in April 1869 for Dr Delavan - Bed 3:30-

Considerably Showery - streets very muddy - Finished my Yellow Jacket fire job for Delavan - PM & evening about town some- Bed 1 - clear & chilly -

Cloudy with showers in the AM - About town - in PM & evening - Delivered Dr Delavan his Jacket sketchs - Evening cold cloudy & raw - Bed 1-

Same - PM Light showers - About town - Sol Noel paid me $20 - Evening at Enterprise office a while - wrote items, read proof etc - Bed 2 - raining lightly -

Sunday June 14 Cloudy - About town some, and at room at odd jobs - Took evening train to Reno - First ride on my new 1/2 fare pass - $1.50 to Reno - Arrived at 9:05 - Found everybody at home all right - Bed 10 -

Monday June 15

Clear & pleasant - warm - 82 - 1st real summer day of the season - I worked at odd jobs about home, hanging screen doors, etc - Everything green & pretty about home and Reno generally - green grass, trees, shrubbary etc - Evening wife out at a party - I was at home with children - Bessie plays finely on my old violin - been taking lessons - Bed at 12:30 when wife returned -

Same - 84 - Fixed bedstead, front gate, etc - hard days work - Evening down town short time - Bed at 10 - Sammy has got a photographic outfit from the East, suitable for amateurs, and is already taking lots of meritorious pictures - The Magpie continues to be a prominant member of the family -
