Same -- PM about town -- Frank Kearney left on the evening train to go to his brothers and sisters in Lexington Kentucky -- I saw him off -- He will visit my folks in Reno this evening or tomorrow -- Evening I was at Opera House -- George C Staley, Dutch dialect comedian with a fair stock company in "A Royal Pass" -- Pretty good play and fair house -- about 1/2 house -- Enterprise awhile, reading proof etc -- Bed 1:30 --

Sunday June 7

Finest day of season and quite an eventful one -- About noon McGurn's 4 horse team just in with a load of freight from Reno, discharged cargo at store and ran away down street, dumping driver & turning the wagon over on side -- Was stopped opposite Post office -- Little damage -- At 3 PM the following took place, as per adverticement in Chronicle and Enterprise: [newspaper clipping here] A big crowd saw

him off from the International corner at C st -- he passed up C & Tayler sts & returned same way -- made it in 1 hour & 20 minutes to Flagstaff on the summit of Mt Davidson, & 2:25 the round trip -- Quite a number were along up the mountain to see fair play etc -- and a crowded, enthusiastic street full hurrahingly accompanied him down C st to his goal, landing the keg where he took it from -- performing the feat triumphantly in 2 hours and 25 minutes -- And he didn't seem much worried over it either -- he is regularly employed by the Electric Light Co, taking care of the
