Hinds my ticket to go with, and he reported the ticket- with my assistance in writing up- Excurtion got back at 7 oclock- telegrams today told of sudden death of Judge B C Whitman, of apoplexy last evening- Was taken with apoplexy in Union Club room at 6 PM and only lived a few hours- Old Comstocker- Left here about 2 years ago, and went down to San F. with his wife and son, Been living there since- Through at office at 2- Bed at 3-

The same- cooler- Was on mining as usual- Lively evenings work- Through at 2- Bed at 3:30

The same- Grant Memorial Services and obsequies today- Services and exercised at Opera House- Big crowd- I reported- Through office at 2- Bed 3:30-
Sunday Aug. 9
The same- W&e at train and met wife this morning- PM she visited the Stevensons at Gold Hill- Young Bill took her down and back in buggy- We breakfasted and dined at Chanmond's- Took a walk out on some of the northern streets after dinner-
