Merrill gets back to Nevada for the 1st time -- Been in San Francisco for the last 2 months -- I through in office at little past 1 -- was about town & in saloons like a dam fool till 2:30 -- Home -- Bed before 3 --

Archie Pollock holding drill, and Cavanaugh striking -- About a carload of rock fell from roof of station, striking him in left side of head & breast, killing him almost instantly -- Pollock escaped unhurt -- Deceased about 40 yrs old, native of Ireland & leaves wife & 2 children at north end of city -- I got all items, telegraphed below to press, then went to office and wrote it up for paper -- Then went up to Charley Brown's undertakers shop & waited till body was brought in --
