The same -- PM reported coroner's inquest on John E Kavanaugh's death -- Evening attended & reported regular meeting of school trustees at 4th ward school house -- then, at 9, reported big wrestling match at Opera House, between Adam Butler of San Francisco and Alf Williams of Gold Hill -- Fair house -- Williams won -- $100 and net receipts was stakes -- Through in office at 1:30 Bed at 3:30

Sunday Aug 30

Clear & hotter -- Took train for Reno at 7:20 AM -- At [Franktown?] got detained by a telegram from Carson -- the yardmaster there had forgotten to hitch on an extra coach for the excursion this PM from Reno to Steamboat -- Our conductor went back to Carson and got it in 55 minutes -- so we were just that later reaching

I at Reno Music Fire

Reno -- Quite a crowd at the Steamboat Springs as we passed, brass band etc -- Mary & Alfie came to meet me as I passed up street -- Had dinner together, all of us -- All well -- Very Hot -- 95 deg -- PM rested -- Evening we had banjo & songs on the front porch, and flute in parlor afterward -- Sammy said it was the happiest evening he had seen for a long time -- Bed at 9 --

Clear & hot -- Back to Va at 10 AM -- Alarm of fire as I reached office -- Ran to
