Cloudy & thawy -- foggy, drizzly at times -- very muddy -- went to lumber yard on north C st and got 2 14 ft boards, 14 inches wide, dressed on one side, also a 12 ft length of flooring, 6 inches wide -- & had them delivered in entry by my room -- going to put up shelving -- PM meeting of the Centennial company in Odd Fellows Building -- Stockholders meeting -- I was chosen to preside & did so -- Meeting was on revision of the by-laws of the co -- Adjourned for a week -- Got letter from JJ Hepworth Como, and wrote one in reply -- Office as usual -- Bed at 5 -- because

I wrote in Office late after going to press -- Col Shaw still on the gamble and did not put in appearance at all again tonight -- Old Jim Townsend worked in place --

Clear & pleasant -- Rose at 11 AM -- Work as usual -- Sent letter to wife, enclosing pass -- Evening big saloon opening of Louis Hirschberg, in front and under my room, in Douglass building -- next south of Mallon's store -- Saloon named the "Crystal" -- Finest saloon in the city -- Immense crowd till way past midnight -- big free lunch of roast pig, etc -- Big run of custom to compensate -- Liveliest
