Cloudy & thawy -- In accordance with telegram received from H M Yerington, Keeler, on the C & C RR I took morning train to Mound House and inspected a lot of marble from Inyo county Cal -- Just arrived -- 2 carloads -- going through to San Francisco & Sacramento today -- 1st shipment quarries 5 miles this side of Owens' lake -- Fine marble -- Takes fine polish -- Only had 20 minutes before the up passenger train came and I go aboard -- Met Albert Hiller & wife on train -- up here on business -- Also met Cap Avery et al -- Work as usual -- Home at 2 -- Bed 3 -- When I returned from Mound House this AM another telegram from D A Bender at Hawthorne telling me to send telegram to the Associated Press, San F about

Inyo Marble

the marble -- I did so -- This marble was consigned to Joseph Musto, San Francisco, and Israel Luce, Sacramento -- All pure white -- 12 pieces -- largest blocks over 3 ft square & 6 ft long -- I was very sleep all this evening from lack of rest -- Got Fillebrown to wake me at 7 this morning --

Cloudy & thawy -- Slept till noon -- about 9 hours -- Shaved etc & went on street at 2 PM -- Knocked about town -- Took T H Fillebrown to dinner with me this PM,
