Dear Joan
It's hard to believe that I've been home for two months now -- I think I'm really beginning to find and feel signs of the old almost forgotten me again! But my parents say I'm still half in Nevada -- and no wonder because in spite of the reason I was there (and that was the end of, and release from, a bad time) I had such a marvelous time, and felt I was at the best, the only place to be. It was perfect for me and I loved it, and all!! I still miss the mountains

so much -- I have the most terrible urge to get out, out, out and away from houses and scurrying people and, to me, ugly surroundings! I was never happier, out there, than on a horse, riding and drinking in the mountains and valley and not feeling the need of talking at all. It did give me something that I don't want to lose and it's a hard thing to find here! And your horses are so marvelous -- I know you have the best anywhere and riding was the greatest joy to me. I love bright lights and parties and especially dancing, but if I had it to do again I'd

do it the same way and give up Reno's nightclubs for Harry's horses and the pack trips any day!!
Coming home was rough, especially picking up the reins of work again and I'm not completely settled down yet! How I have missed cocktail hour, and the nice atmosphere, and the big dinner table, and Harry's jokes and your witty conversation and all the marvelous food!! Really you did a great deal for all of us in the kind of situation you provided and it was good for us, whether we realized

it at the time or not. Thank you for everything. Thank you also for my key ring which I prize and always shall!! You and Harry will always be in my affections!
It was wonderful to see some of my friends here and it has helped as we share a common experience. Of course you've heard from Neil about our fantastic coincidental meeting at the Plaza in September -- we all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Pat looked radiant, and Gwynne and Evelyn were warm and fun and we all enjoyed it.

John and I stayed and met Neil and his date and went out to dinner at El Morrocco as you may know and had a gay evening! Later we all went to Evelyn's for the day, Evan Jones drove up from his home and picked us all up so we went to-gether. Pat's husband joined us later for dinner. Evelyn's place is, of course quite fabulous and in the most beautiful of taste -simple elegance I would say. She (and her children) are so natural and real! I think it's a blessing for her children to have a real person
