I must write a few lines to you in regards to the sentence of a man that has been filling a place that few men could fill and none that would not deny them selves of many nescessaryes of life and it is only reasonable and Human to take time to consider Before you allow a rash act to be committed. It is very easy to fabricate evidence to accuse an innocent person if there is a predjudice against him. The sadest thing of tongue or pen the sadest is it could have been some one else. While I am in favor of Safety and protection I am not in favor that an innocent person Should loose his life. Yours truely Wendell Gardner. in regards to Hill.

Minneapolis, Minn. Oct.28th.1915.

Hon Wm. Spry Gov.State of Utah

Sir ....

I understand that you are going to carry out the States' will by Legally shooting an innocent man, namely Joseph Hillstrom who has as yet not been proven guilty by the State of Utah.

I again have to ask you to commute the sentence of my comrade and countryman whom you know deep down in your heart is entirely innocent of that shooting affair in Salt Lake. You want to be careful that the State of Utah does not go to far in this affair because when you have to come before the REAL COURT, namely the PEOPLE you will find that you want to be careful that the State does not COMMIT a HIENIOUS CRIME which it will do, if you allow Joseph Hillstrom to be shot.

I implore you to use your executive power to free J.Hill and if you do this will be a man amongst men but if you allow Him to be shot then I must say I don't think much of Governors. Hoping that you take action immediately and FREE an innocent MAN I remain

Yours to PROGRESS. C. W. Anderson

By a man who believes in the FREEDOM of the whole HUMAN RACE. Be careful that you do not go to far.

Hon Gov. Spry.

You as leading head of the Government of the state of Utah we appeal to you as an American citizen to reconsider that final decision of yours and grant Joe Hillstrom a pardon or else use your great power for a new trail and show the American working class that you are sincere.

Hoping that you will look upon this protest against the execution of a man who was never proven guilty by the evidence that was produced by the prosecution.

Yours Respectfully Fred Andrews 249 Robinson Ave. Minneapolis Minn.
