We the undersigned citizens of the Lone Star State of Texas do hereby petition you as the head of the Hon. Board of Pardon of the State of Utah for mercy in behalf of Mr. Joe Hill under sentence to be shot for murder. We have carefully followed the evidence against this man condemed to die for a crime against society and feel that such evidence does not warrant such drastic measures as the evidence is purely circumstancial. We therefore beg mercy for Mr. Hill from the great and Honorable Gov. of Utas common wealth, that he may review the evidence and save a humane life injustly condemed.

P.S. I have only been out a little at spare moments with petition and have got men of all political beliefs to sign, remember if I had the time I could get hundreds to sign and this is ????? what of a sparsely settled Country but however it has been circulated enough for all to learn the nature of the case
How long will it be before America the socalled Christian nation will quit persecuting men for their political belief? Very Truly T.L. Hurlburt
