that the article to Colonel Grymes is for quitrents, nor that to Mr. Stagg for dancing, Mr. Lightfoot's accot consisted of many things taken up against Miss Pages marrage [marriage] to Mr. Randolph, & Mr. Prentis is for notes drawn on him to the head overseer & for other contingent charges on the estate. Master Page holds a great quantity of land in the northern neck & become in debt to Lord Fairfax seventy four pounds two shillings and nine pence for two years quitrents due on Michaelmass last, & my demand on the estate was cccationed [occasioned] by the purchase of one hundred & sixty head of cattle bought by me for the use of two plantations which came to Mr. Mann Page upon the death of Mrs. Bray, & by disbursments [disbursements] for the overseer shares of the several crops & for levies to the collectors. Colonel Willis writ to me for a bill of thirty five pounds & I could not refuse it seeing he was contented to wait for a much greater sum due to him as to the two hundred & sixty seven pounds & four pence you know very well that my circumstances cannot without much difficulty admit me to lu out of such a sum of money, and yet I am willing to make the matter as easie to you as I can. These bills are designed, with the tobo. sent sent last year & this to pay of [off] my private debt to yourself, neither would I draw for the ballance [balance], till the latter ships next summer, & I should therefore be glad if you if you would let me have credit for them; but if you chuse [choose] rather to have me continue your debtor till I can pay the it by remitting tobo. and are unwilling to pay the two hundred & sixty seven pounds & four pence on
