The exportation of tobo. [tobacco] from this colony this year is much smaller than a fee at which with a very mean prospect of the ensuing crop must in some measure enhance the price of tobo. [tobacco] at home and we flatter our selves [ourselves] the consignments of our father to you this year in Capt. Russel will meet with such an agreeable turn that our joint entrance into a correspondence with you will prove much to our satisfaction.
We must desire you to continue your annual cargoe [cargo] to us of two hhds of your best Weymouth Beer well bottled and pact [packed] up, we think it necessary that you send your acct. [account] currt. [current] with our father to us that we may know how to make drafts upon you as occasions requires, we are.
Sir with great Esteem
Your most humble Servts. [servants]

Mr James Buchannan
Sir Rappahanock Aug. 30 1732
This advises you of the death of Robert Carter Esq. and as his executors we desire you to conclude yourself chargable to us for the next proceeds of the 18 hhd. sent you in the Thistle Capt. Reed last year which was the begining [beginning] of our fathers correspondence with you. Your letter to him gives such a poor encouragement that we fear their produce will hardly retaliate the complement that was made you in consigning to you. We are, Sir
Your very humble Servants
