going to stay a day or two in Toronto; We said we
were going to stay. He then said he should be pleased
to shew us any attention he could. He wrote us a note
to take to the Parliament House. His Uncle is a member.
We went there, right in, where the members were
Sent the card, and had a ticket for the best places.
We went up-stairs, and have stopped till now
hearing a most exciting and interesting debate on the
subject "The seat of the new Government, is it to be
Ottawa"?. It was all in French. I was surprised to
find I could make out so well what was said, I
intend now, as so much French is spoken here, to rub
up my knowledge of that language and to speak
it well. The decision of parliament is left, or rather
the discussion is adjourned till next Wednesday.
Very likely I shall go again. My introduction will
take me. After we left Crook and Camerons to whom
Dr. Helmuth introduced us, we went to a party a
Mr. Horrocks introduced me to, who keeps a boarding-house.
Mr. Horrocks was agent on board the North American.
We went to this boarding house, and have taken
lodgings there. It will run very reasonable. Breakfast
