28. Sewing Oats 4 horses, cloudy & warm, took 1 House Tobacco down to day to prize, - , Halled up one stack Oats more to sew. -- Danl> Hunt got Doct White to cut his lip about 4 weeks ago last Monday
29 A Fine morning sewing Oats & Cleaning up new ground, last night about 10 Oclock Malissa bornMalissa's child being 10 she has had, lost 2 Nicy & Morris
30 Treading Oats this evening to seed. Sewed 30 Bushels, alse Raking new ground Fed gone to mill 10½ Bushels corn Planted Onions Beets & Salsify yesterday

1848 April 8th. Henry Plowing Tobacco Lot & we hilled up oursweetpotatoe patch

14 began to Plant Corn in mountain field & finished Plowing for corn began to Plant at Stony Point this evening —
15. Planted drilled corn at Stony point & Hill at Home

1848 April 24th Easter Monday dry Done Planting corn 23rd finished 22nd Coltering Second yrs ground for Tobacco Oats & wheat looks badly. Tobacco plants small & flies eating them very much in places
26. Dry & warm, Halling out manure on Lots cart & waggon, coltering & Hilling in new ground, - 4 lambs to this date Halling Rails yesterday for Lot
27 taking down Tobacco prizing Tobacco Halling out manure waggon & Cart
28 nearly all this week
29. Finished Halling manure except on cotton Patch to day Hilling new ground, fine Rain this week tho not a enough. Halled up a Double stack fodder & putting up scare crows this morning —
30. Cool & Raining this morning — Plowed a little Tobacco Land yesterday on Johns Branch, Planted watermellon seed a few days ago, May 1st Finished Johns branch made up Tobacco Lot fences went to shop
May 1st Planted out a few cabbage Plants wed corn in Garden
May 2nd prizing Tobacco shoemaking etc. shelling corn. Raining, & halling woodground wet
3. made a steer of Mr. Neals calf this morning coltering & Hilling in new ground, & Plowing Lot -
4. Planted cotton watermellons etc etc - Plowing for Tobacco & Hilling in new ground. Seasonable weather

1848 May 6th Send Henry to mill 10 Bus. corn & 1 Bushel Buck wheat picking up roots & Hilling this morning pulled cockle out of fresh ground wheat
7 Gust last night & night before hard Rain & wind —
8 put up fencing prizing Tobacco & replanting corn. Ground wet Henry plowing on Branch in lot, My W gone to Mrs Hunts. Mary H Coleman sick I went there last night in night. She was some better — Very hard Rain about 3 oclock to day also last friday & Saturday
15. Finished our new ground, replanting corn coltering second yrs ground weather cool & fair,- Planted snaps etc etc & Hilling second yrs ground
16 Finished replanting corn, Plowing
17 Hilling up second yrs ground prepared ground for Peas & Greens Plowing for Tobacco — in Lots

20th May 1848. Planted Greens & tomattoes & Irish Potatoes 18 & 19th Inst. = 21st walked up to Mrs Colemans this day Kitt returned from Lynchg about 2 oclock. gone 2½ days — all safe & sound
22nd Finishing Hilling our second yrs land Plowing in corn, - weather fine & dry on Saturday 20th Planted some Tobacco
24th Cutting off new ground Hills & Planted Tobacco the whole day. - Planted all our new groundno Rain
25. Planting this morning in second Land Plowing Sweet Potatoes & Corn & cotton Hilling on Branch yet -
26 Plowing corn at stony point Thining corn this morning began to weed corn at 12 oclock.
27. replanted Cotton. gone to mill 6 Bus. corn. weeding corn by Malissas House & finishing Plowing over corn once except some wet spots. fine growing weather Sent for Mr Lewis’s man cow [unclear] [D?] took him & several more Sheared sheep Thining corn & nearly done, Planted Tobacco yesterday & to day in second yrs ground & finished
