1848 Sept 1st pulling fodder Mr Myers work on yard all this week, 6 days -

2 Pulling fodder & Tying up Do

3rd Sunday a fine dry day ——

4th Fine weather for fodder, pulling at home & stony point& tying up

5 Finished pulling to day 12 oclock worming & succoring & topingTobacco & tying up fodder etc Lilas child a Girl born about 11 oclock

6 Worming succoring & toping Tobacco. Tying up fodder

7 same work this day - clear & cool

8 worming & succoring & toping —

9 same work - 10 Sunday a fine day

11th Finished toping & succoring this morning cut & stacked up all the tops at home this day - 12th cutting & stacking tops

12th at mountain field first & then at stony point weather coolnights& clear

13th Finished cutting Tops & stacking fodder

14. Stilling & cutting Tobacco in biggroundnew

15. Finished cutting over by new ground & stilling to day 550 stacks cutt & made 15 Gallons Brandy — weather warm Sent 9 Bushels wheat to Glenns Mill for flour about the 1st Sept 1848—

16th Raining this morning, sent Henry to Doct Whites Mill, Large Log for Railing 1 Babl corn sent - Fed shoemaking Planted Peach Kernels in Garden

1848 Sunday 17th Sept cloudy & like for Rain my wife gone to Mrs Hunts

18th Cut over little new ground & little side of Fresh ground in first 225 in other 150 sticks.

19 Cutting still in second yrs ground this day sticks 450 Our Ram got with the flock yesterday. clouday night

20 Cut thisday200 sticks in second yrs Ground & 470 sticks on branch & lot

21stcutting all on branch & 550 sticks —worming & succoring Tobacco & Halling rails for fodder stack frames

22. Gathering Peas tops etc etc.

23 Frost this morning stacking tops. quite cool this morning

24th a little frost this morning clear & cool ——

25. no frost this morning stacking Tops & Done this evening clear fine weather 2125 sticks sticks of Tobacco cut in all first cutting

26. Housing Tobacco filled new ground barn & middle barn at home & someto goin prize barn the 27th Sept 1848 —

27. Housing Tobacco this quite coolmorning

28. cut all our good Tobacco in Lot etcSent to Doct Whites Mill 7½ Bus corn & 1 Log for Railing for yard Hanging Lot Tobacco which we cut yesterday began to Hall & House in prize barn

29. Housing Tobacco, cutting in big new ground & Lot by Granary & Halling wood more Pines in woods & old fields every where this summer & fall than ever was seen one summer before since I could recollect

1848 Sept 30 Cutting Tobacco in big & little new ground & making Tobacco sticks Finished curing 2 Houses Tobacco & about prize Barn at this timefair & warm Sent Henry to Mr McCullocks & Exchanged Ten 10 Bus. wheat, as his is whiter than mine, mine is a little mixed, — with red wheat some how cut 625 sticks Tobacco in Lot - Second cutting in big & little new ground [lost in margin] sticks in second yrs ground is sticks, making in all

Oct. 1st Raining this morning & untill nearly 12 oclock, warm weather —

Oct 2 Cut & Hung up to this day 3000 & over. finished cutting in big new ground worming second yrs ground & succoring Halling wood & shoemaking —

3 Halling up old Top stack & stacking straw etc etc Fed shoemaking Sent 125 lbs old Iron to Miles Tuckers & sent Henry to Jno Tucker for 1000 shingles for X saw, worming & succoring Tobacco began to Pull Mountain field corn,

4th Halling Tobacco out of new ground to mountain field Barn & Halling corn home from mountain field

5 Housing Lot Tobacco shucking & Housing corn put in corn house about 13 Bbls

1848 Oct 6 Digging Irish Potatoes first planting Turn out moderate Began to sew wheat in fallow Land fresh field firing Tobacco in prize Barn & mountain Barn weather moderate, clear, to day. -

7. A Fine morning, cutting second groundyrs Tobacco, & Henry sewing wheat in fresh ground

8. clear moderate Lucy A. Clements Baptized today by Bro Plunket

9th clear & cool, firing Tobacco sewing wheat & Cutting down corn & Halling it up, cut Buck Wheat

12 Halling up Tobacco & Corn, smart frost weather cool Sewing wheat in fresh ground & Choping bushes etc began to sew wheat big prize Barn,

13th Sewing wheat. Halling wood etc Choping Bushes in fresh ground cloudy and like for Rain Cool

14. Sewing wheat in second yrs Tobacco Land, firing Tobacco at mountain field & Cutting down corn stalks there & Piling Rocks, Mr Hagood got Leather & thread to make myself & wife a pair shoes weather clear & moderate - 5¼ lbs warp filing & bag carried to Mrs Tuckers

15 went to Mrs Smiths clear & warm

16 Sewing wheat in fresh Tobacco Land Henry gone to Doct Whites mill 1½ Bbls

1848 Oct 16 weather cloudy & like for Rain my wife gone to Mrs Hunts

17. Finished sewing fresh ground Tobacco Land 3½ Bushels sewed one that white from Mr McCullocks - weather cloudy & Rainy began to Hall up stalks from mountain field & sew that, Rainy & ground to[o] to Plowwet

18. Rained a fine Rain commenced Sewing Tobacco Lot this morning, white wheat from Mr McCullocks

29 Firing Tobacco & Digging Sweet & BushelsIrish Potatoes & finished sewing Lot

20 & 21st Firing Tobacco Halling stalks from mountain field & finished sewing that in wheat.

23rd gone to Mr. Jno D Hunts after Bricks to Lay Dining Room floor & get apples waggon & cart - cloudy & like for Rain Give Bro Angel got 525 Bricks 1½ Bus wheat carried it to Bro Yates for him about 10 agodays

24 Halling corn from stony with waggon 9 Loads this in all

30. Shucked out & put up corn from stony point. gathered corn at home 4 Loads & to day shucking that Halling up stalks from stony point Put up Fatting Hogs this day the Ballance say 19 now & 3 some time ago & Dick in yard

Nov. 1st Seeding wheat in Lot, by Mallisas houseat home

2nd Finished there & gone to stony pint
