1868 Jany 10th, Lowry moved this evening
where Dalton has been living, Hannah in
the other room till Joe Hunt comes if he
comes at all, very cold & windy to day –
11 Halling wood Broke Ring halled but
little Balance cutting Ell gone to her Fathers
12th. went to meeting Saturday & to day
still cloudy & quite cool, tho moderated some
13 still pretty day Cutting in new ground
& Halled & Cut dry wood on mountain
for Plant Bed, - Ell went home Saturday 11 11
14th Started to Burn Plant Bed soon
& about 5 or 6 Oclock began to snow
charles went to Plant Bed till Breakfast
Charles worked here 5 days – –Snowed & Hailed all day Mr Dalton
mended Plow Bridle Lowry made Brooms
15. Sett Log heaps on fire Burn Badly
Cut some in new ground cloudy
16. Cutting in new ground & minding
up Log Heaps & nearly Burnt them up
I went out to Shields good Hunting my Boar
could not hear any thing of him
clear this night & moderate weather
Good deal of Hail on ground yet & ground
hard frozen yet no charles yet nor Joe
17th. This has been a very cold windy &
wintry day Hail & ground melted very little
Halled up Load shucks to Cutting House
put 1 Load straw in Cow rack & 1 in
stack for Cows & halled Cart Load straw
to Mrs Ellender Wyatt, Lowry halling wood
Mr. Dalton Cutting in new ground
Wind North & North West
18th The coldest morning here I ever saw
the Thermometer down to 12 Degrees –
clear weather no wind this morning
Cutting all day in new ground
19th. weather cold but moderated some no wind
stayed at home all day Richard started to court
& rode Bill my horse
