our Oats giving Henry etc 3 Stac[…] Sticks stack in them & Six Hundred Twenty five pounds of three other stacks the 3 stacks towards the house in a row making 3 stacks & 635 lbs of the crop this is Beatifull weather indeed — clear & moderate,

19th Halled in all our Tobacco last Cutting & put it old prize Barn, Jerry Smith Cameback here to day

20th Beet apples, in part in morning & finished in evening, smoking Tobacco Halling rails to fence in Top Stack & pretended to pull Sorghum fodder & done nothing at it hardly old Henry made hounds to 2 Horse waggon

21st Richard Whitehead came here last night & this morning started home

22nd Nannie & myself went down to Mr Millers to see Mr Beckey Miller sick & I wanted to get the wheat 2 Bushels wheat I bot of Geo. Roper belonging to to George F Miller & he had sold it to another man, & I got none, Henry Halling wood to fire Tobacco Ben went to Cutting down Corn to Sew wheat in fresh ground by ps Tobacco, Milly Ann Sick & done nothing to day began to gather Peas & there came up a cloud & it rained little Henry began to Plow in Lot for wheat Throwing Tobacco stubble down, cloudy & like for rain, I went up Saturday evening to Keens store after my Papers, –

24th Turned out 10 Hogs of which there is 7 shoats 3 Sows including spade sow 1 Pig with that 1 there is 5 Pigs out in woods & 3 or 4 in Pasture that I could not get, the sow I got from Sallie 7 yearling Hogs has been out for sometime 1 young sow & 1 Boar in that number, - Large frost this morning clear Beautiful weather Plowing for wheat Henry cutting wood, Ben picking out Cotton this morning Billy came here yesterday morning & at work on Cart Body

25 Henry Cutting & Halling wood little Plowing in Lot ground we did not put in Tobacco Billy getting Pieces for cart body & he helped yesterday evening about Sugar Cane

26th Digging Sweet & Irish Potatoes & Begun to Sew wheat in Lot yesterday evening & sewing this morning - sewing Guano first & then wheat Billy helped dig Potatoes made about 12 or 15 Bus Sweet & 10 Bushels

27 Sewing wheat in Tobacco Lot

28th I went to Strait Stone no Preaching

29 Raining all day & towards night & in the night very hard Jerry started to Court soon with Bill Fanned out our wheat made 28 Bushels & divided it, & I give Henry 1 Bushel of the Screan Shelled out 1 Hhd full & 1 Barr. Shelled Corn in Corn House & fixed up for pulling Corn in got Large Box full shelledCorn 2½ Bus Corn for meal for us 2½ Bushels for old Henry 1 of which I Lent him, working on Roads.

1866 Oct 31st Working on roads […] here I went to Joseph M Yates & Chris Laines, Halled up 1 stack Blade fodder

Nov 1st Cutting wood & began to sew Wheat again in Lot after 12 oclock Bill Sick Last night J R Whitehead here

2nd Finished Sewing in Lot & sewed little ps by Turnip Patch in Rye

3rd Began to Sew in fresh field sewed little ps where Tobacco was tended this year I went to Jeres old place Friday & Saturdy & on to Edge Hill meeting & then to Jos M Yates & rectified his account & then home, cloudy & rained by dark

4th Rained a little last night & cloudy all day & like for Rain my Hogs thats been missing so long all up last night Only 1 Pig, 7 out –

5 I started to Court Superior Court to see about Dower Land Cutting & Halling wood Rocks etc to make molasses –

6 I Come home from court, Judge wingfield to decide the case about Dower Land Halled some wood, Plowing for wheat Beautiful weather to day – –

7. Cutting down Corn & sewing wheat

8. Gathering Cotton & sewing wheat I went to Starkeys & Jerrys etc

9th Halling up Corn & fixing Land to sew wheat, Cutting down & Piling Corn I went to Yates to get buggy tire cut. -

11th went to S S meeting Bro Lacy Preached

12th. Sewing wheat & finished up here by near Barn. Cutting down Corn in corner next to woods going to Stoney p[o]int for wheat —

13th Halling up Corn & Henry preparing the Same but did not get it ready. I went up to Jerrys,Ned Cobbs Came to Ditch 6 by 2½ or 3 feet deep & wide I find him new Ditch I am to give him 10 Cents a yard old Ditch cleaning out & straitening 4 Cents pr yard I find him 3 or 4 of spotted Sows Pigs in Pasture or gone one I have never Seen them Since I turn them out, 3 Black & 3 Yellows one Comes up

14 Shucked out some corn & put away our Greens & seed cabbage

15. began to Cut down Corn at mou tain Spring & it rained nearly all day I went up to Blanks s to measure corn rained & throwed us out –

16 Made Hog pen & got wood little Henry Sick. all day I give him medicine I went up to Blanks’s & finished measuring corn cloudy & like for rain,

17th Cutting down & piling Corn at mountain spring

18 I went to meeting S.S. Mr Smith preached

19. I am going to court, Henry went to Millfor himself Cutting down corn at mountain field –

20th I Come home Tuesday night Halling up & Pulling of corn to day etc. Billy at work

[2]1st Piling & Halling & Pulling of Corn from mountain field Billy & Ned here Miss M Neale [J]ames Shields delivered Corn borrowed to day

1866 Novr 21st Jerry delivered 1 Cart Lo[ad …] evening 4 Bubls borrowed of me, Mr J M[…] Moses got my yoke steers from Jerrys yesterday & is to give me $50. for them to be paid in 6 months,

22nd I went to Mrs McHaneys to appraise property nobody Came & came home & went to Mill Carried 1 Bbl Corn & 1 Bushel Wheat, got all & my plank & Hhds staves there Carrid 2 axes for Mr Yates to [unclear] & carried the steel too

23rd Killed 6 our Hogs weighed 850 lb pulled off some Corn, Jordan helped

24, Salted out Hogs Killed Halled up Corn & finished from mountain & pulled it off fixed Bars at Cow pen etc

25 I went to meeting at Rices

26. Cutting down & Picking up Corn Little Henry pulling off about 10 Oclock that is at the stack I went up with Cart to Cedar Hill after Bellows anvil Hammers etc etc to fix up shop & to old place to see Bybee but he was not at home clear pretty weather - Jerry & Sallie went up to Kates Sunday evening & Come back this night, Ned not here to day

27th Halling & pulling off Corn -

28th Halling & pulling off Corn Smith here yesterday & to day - to help get up Corn Ned Ditching & cleaning out Ditch from Spring —

29 Finished pulling off Corn at stack & began to shuck Corn Raining to nighta little I went to old place to see about Brandy again & divided it & it come down in the morning - warm weather for the time

30th Shucked Corn to day Fannie & Catherine helped us to day
