31st Brot Home Doran Hunt to […] little Henry went off after we finished […] altering by Mr Bybee without my Consent Stayed tillthis morning. went to look for a home for his wife - - I was very much vexed with him & thought I would dismiss him from me but have not done it yet, - Halling up & stacking Oats working out cotton & Tobacco,

August 1st Finished stacking Oats put up 4 stacks in Johns’s field & 11 stacks & 1 shock in field at water Lew, Finished working out cotton Patchat last & went in Tobacco Lot at 12 Oclock Charlott has been out nearly all the time Jerry & Mr DR Hunt has bot out Mr HB Haley at Chalk Level a day or Two ago

2nd August. Nannie & Jere started to Franklin this morning turned my stock in Johns’s field this morning Cows Horses 25 Hogs & 4 young pigs Plowing & working lot this morning give nannie $5 note, I am going to Wm Wallers Mrs Colemans Jeres & Mrs Panills,

3rd I went to CH to attend to taking deposition in Keatts case about Mrs Hunts Land been there on same business Twice before our folks finished working over Tobacco Lot, old Henry gone to Buck Tuckers to get 4 Bus. Corn he says he got from claiborne, little Henry gone to get 4th augta home for his wife who cant stay here any longer balance worming & succorring on Road clear & Hot in day, Cool nights ground Very dry & Corn suffering very much for rain Sold John D Hunts Dcesd Estate 12 ps Bacon weighing 123 lbs @ 1/6 Rained in evening went Keensville Jerrys oldplace & Mrs Colemans I

5 clear & nights Cool Rained last evening Stayed at home & rested this day

6th. Billy Hunt [Sent?] here this morning Halled 1 Stack fodder put some in Cutting House some in Granary for Bill & Balance in Barn back of Garden Plowing on road to Good Hopeup fresh ground

7th. Nannie & Jere Came back from Franklin last night returned & went in one day Hilling up Tobacco on Road at WaterLoo. Billy putting up Hen House Carried 1 Log 1 Millers Mill for Plank for Hen House & 1 Turn Corn for meal

8 Fenced in Oats & finished working Tobacco on Road, work Tobacco in Corner in new ground & fresh field Cloudy this morning Mr Bybee & Wyatt started to Lynchg 1 Hhd Tobacco for Estate of & Jorden I expect started with my Hhd at Cedar Hill let Mr Bybee have $5 for toll of Waggons $5 for allum water If he could get it, $5 for whiskey Barrels & lent him $10 pr. Due Bill - - - I went up to Jerrys to day - Plowing & Hilling up Tobacco in fresh field all the $15 Dollars let Bybee have to buy things & pay toll was my paid back $10own Money

9th Working Tobacco in fresh field. Carried 1 Log to Lewis Yates for Hhds staves & 3 to Millers for Hen House clear cool nights hot days

10th. working & Plowing Lot Tobacco again

11th Toping worming & succoring Tobacco over clear this morning, uncle Billy at work on Hen House Alonzo Hunt, Dan Overby, & Hunt Hargrave here this morning I am going to meeting to day SS

12 went to meeting nannie & me both days

13 Plowing & Hilling up Tobacco in Lot

14 I went up to see Bybee but did not do it gone to Mill Rained in the evening finely & some in the night, did not get done Hilling up our Lot Sent Henry to Mill 2 Bushels corn for meal & he got it about dark & brot it home from Yates

15th August. Bybee came down here Mrs […] Went after waggon wheel at Yates, Halled[…] negroes went to Mrs Neals burial & funeral […] Uncle Billy Came here to work This morning Tuesday, sewed Turnips in Garden

16th Going to Millers Saw Mill & Grass Mill uncle Billy working in Lot & little Henry gone Twice to dayat work on Hen House yesterday & went to Mrs Neals Funeral, Hot weatherLog 14 feet long to day 2 My Hogs missing - about now working in Lot Tobacco & will finish to day Sewed Turnips in Garden & lot to day Carried another Log for Planking sideshouse & 1 yesterday Getting up apples to day making 6 at Millers and 2 at Yates for Hhds staves or something else

17th. Last evening we finished getting up apples at home about 1 hour by Sun old Henry & Milly Ann went to stony p[o]int to see if it was worth while to carry the Cart over there returned about night no apples there, I saw Lila asked her where they all were as I expected them to go to beeting apples, said Henry was gone to turn out Steers & was going to top some Tobacco on Road & going to Keens to get some things she wanted, shestoping the hands & sending them off this morning I had a strong noth notion of dismissing them all & have told Henry he might go & get a house for his wife & children, & If he did not do it & his wife did not behave herself I would put all his things in my waggon & carried & put them on the ground in the Lynchg Road & drive his wife away from here & they are finally beeting apples

18th. Dug our forward Irish Potatoes yesterday Beet Cider got 1 Barrel, & a little over Mr Moses & Kate came down last night & got their Sow & 4 pigs I gave them & also gave her a Barrel of Corn which Jerry carried to her found my got only 1 pigspade Sow

20 went to Court worming & succoring our Tobacco

21 Plowing & Hilling up far part of Lot Tobacco Mr McSherry here nannie & me Ell & Henry went to association

22nd Thrashed wheat Jerry Sent 3 hands old Billy did not come

23rd Machine gone to Jerrys in waggon & cart fair morning very cool nights at his time

24 Finished wheat & Rye at Jerrys & machine wh went over to old place & we brot one Load unshucked Corn & 1 Load shucks home Mr James Shields got the Bbl & promise to let him & he gave his due Bill for his son James & Martha Neal security

25. going after another Load Corn Steer waggon & Horse waggon to day they are working Lot Tobacco & finishing this morning I am going to Mrs Coleman & old place to see them thrashing wheat.

26. very cool nights & morning very dry weather

Sow that was Sick in winter & had Pigs has I reckon got Pigs again yellow spade sow got 1 yellow Pig some time ago, & I thought she was stolen she comes up now

27 Finished Thrashing wheat at Jerrys & old place & this morning brot machine home, Toping & Succoring Tobacco cloudy & likely for rain

1866 Augt 27th let Charles at Jerrys 4 lbs […] for his wife to spin at 25¢ pr lb & let him […] at 20¢ & sent Malissa a 1½ lb wool rolls in […] terms each one bag weighs 2 lbs say 6 lb Bag & & all for charles & 3½ lb Bag & all for malissa

28. Raining this morning Rained all night Began yesterday I went to Cedar Hill brot my Boards, worming & succorring all day thrashing Out Rye & beeting out flax seed this morning shill raining — Rained nearly all day

229th. my waggon gone to Lynchg carried 1 Hhd for me & all I have & will take one at old place for Mr Hunts Estate $5 Hhd & find my waggon & pay ½ the toll & ferryage Send Estate waggon with [unclear] 1 Hhd in that worming & succorring Tobacco to day

Sept 4th Since the 29th I have been to Lynchg sold all our Tobacco been to Millers Mill after Plank Henry cut & Halled wood etc& to day went to Lewis Yates had my buggy tire Cut paid him off, & carried nearly 4½ Bushels wheat for flour 5 Bushels Corn for meal Toping succoring Tobacco – Malissa had 1½ lb wool Rolls to spin & Del[delivered?] [or?] Charles at Jerrys had 4 lb wool Rolls they have spun them & they are paid in Lard,

5 Milly Ann Sick all this week toping worming Billy Came here monday night at work on Hen House I went after meal & flour

6 Milly Ann Out Billy worming & succorring Tobacco Henry went to Millers after Plant & got none hardly I went to Chalk Level Mrs Colemans & Farthings to get shoes made
