My dear Edward:

I received your postal
yesterday stating that you had
arrived safely on the other side.
That's fine Sneddie to be "over there"
and I know well dear boy that
you will "arrive safely" over in
Alameda in a very short time.

I only wish I were with
you. We all do for we miss
you greatly dear old fellow.

I received a card from the draft
board the other day stating that
I had been classified in III J
for the present. That is exempt from
military service because I am needed
as a skilled agriculturist. I
hated to get that card for I should
like to have gone but I guess my
neck would have held me behind.
I tried to get over under the Big "C"
as an athletic instructor but
they wouldn't accept me as I
