Tues January 1.
Very nice and clear and quite with allmost
a total eclipse of the sun. Lew and I worked at a
machine house. Lew found out about Wrights
Drunk. One horse killed the other badly hurt.

Wed January 2.
Very nice again. Lew and I went and got the grist. I borrowed 55
dols of Charly Sheldon. Paid the History cos note got
postal order from Mrs Bartlet for 27.73 dollars and
Charly [Pennock or Permack?] paid us 4 dollars.
