Wednesday January 9. A little colder, the thermometer registered 10 degrees above zero this morning. Lew was still laid up with a lame [eye?]. I finished cleaning out the barn and fixed the buggy's lid.

January 10. Thurs Pretty nice again today. We done sundry chores in the forenoon and in the afternoon. Lew went to town, done some errands. I cut some [ciosas?] and trimmed some maple trees.

Friday January 11 More of the same kind of weather. I trimmed maple trees along the road fence in the forenoon and in the afternoon fixed the buggy. Lew worked at the wood and helped out [buggy?].

January 12 Sat The wind was rather raw and cold today but it was mostly clear. Lew brought down Mrs. Bardsall and May and went to town. Then went to [Neeces?] after. Lill and her calf coming home tomorrow. I fixed the barn doors and some other fixing and then trimmed the locusts and some other trees [etc?]

Sun January 13. Snowed about an inch last night and did not thaw much today but was not much colder. Lew brought home Rose Polly and Lill and her calf. I visited with CV Howard most of the day.

January 14. Mon Snowed a little but otherwise pretty fair day. Lew and I worked at getting ice for our [lusines?] today got a pretty fair start for boys.

Tues January 15. Pretty fair day for work but mostly cloudy. Reas was over and got the corn sheller and scrapers and took them home on his sled. I've got a couple of loads of ice. Uncle John and Charley got one.

January 16. Wed Pretty nice mostly clear. We put up ice again, had Will Dixon to help us. I think that we have got enough hauled now. We have 6 big loads, 311 [cakes?] to the load 7 in thick, 14 wide and 28 long.

Thurs January 17. Pretty cold 5 degrees above zero this morning but clear and cold tonight. Finished the ice business then done several other small jobs such as making steers getting Sam home [etc?].

Fri January 18. A little cold in the morning 6 degrees above but clear and thawed some Lew went to town. I sold the butter but didn't trade horses for the mare was not there. I done some chores.
