January 19 Sat Rather cold North wind early but fine the rest of the day We went to John Dragers with some blacksmithing Stopped at the old Fred Pokholm place left Nell and [drove?] one that we think of trading Sam for like her pretty well.

January 20 Sun Pretty cold in the morning 3 degrees above zero but pretty nice after all. Mother and I went over to Charleys found them well situated in their new quarters had a very nice visit like the looks of their new place first rate.

Mon January 21. Quite nice and somewhat warmer today Lew helped Dixons get ice. I chased around some but didn't hurt myself with work.

January 22. Tues Fine until just night when the wind began to blow pretty cold Mother Lew and I went to town and got one things another sold 100 bush of wheat to BF Hattel for 1 dol per bush.

Wed January 23. Lovely as ever and not quite so cold. Lew took a couple of loads of wheat over to Mr Hattel and brought back a load of chafs. I filled up the sacks and done Sunday chores.

January 4. Thurs Very nice again today Lew and I went to town and took over a load of wheat weighed 2125 lbs. I finished paying my taxes and paid Daves and traded Sam for a little buckskin mare.

Fri January 25. Somewhat different kept at about freezing point but snowed a little and blowed a right smart we chored about until about noon then laid over until chore time.

January 26. Sat Pretty cool and a little breezy. We went to town and on down below town to get the little mare but couldn't find her anywhere in the field or out so we had to come home without her.

January 27. Sun Weather a cold warm North West wind which took the snow about clean. Lew found and brought home the little claybank mare and took Sam over to Hilton. so now we have a team of claybanks or [roans?]

January 28. Mon Nice clear and real warm. We hauled a couple of good big loads of hay from Whindy ill and put it into the barn loft.
