Thurs JULY 11. Quite nice again. We finished fixing the fence at the Whittiker place then went to cultivating corn. We put in our time at that throughout the day and got along very well.

JULY 12. Fri Rather warm but otherwise quite nice. We cultivated corn and hoed weeds all day.

I guess that the folks get along pretty well at home for I have not heard any complaint from anybody.

Sat JULY 13. Pretty fine day but had a little squib of a shower about noon at the ranch. We worked at the corn business until noon. Then after it dried up a little we got ready and came home but stopped by the way some got home about sundown. I rented the old man Casey house to Burgess until Aug 15 for 3 dolls [dollars]. We found things all right home.

JULY 14. Sun Quite a nice day. We all kept Sunday to day. Mostly Lew and Meda went over to see Dr Miller about her foot. He pronounced it a bruise and advises her to keep pretty quiet for a while. Hannah and I went to Mr Cushions a while. Just before night I went to Mr John Howards to see if I could irrigate in the morning and he said yes.

Mon JULY 15. Very fine to day. Lew cultivated corn on the piece in the north west corner of the place. Bert followed with the hoe to cut out the weeds. One of the little black sows had five pigs this morning but wouldnt let them suck but Lew tied her and they sucked her and after that she seemed all right. I irrigated with a good head of water on the hill piece got over a lot of ground.

JULY 16. Tues Pretty warm and we had a pretty little shower just at night wet down in the plowed ground about an inch. Lew finished the first piece and made something of a start at the piece north of the house. Bert hoed weeds. I finished the hill piece and turned the water down for John. I hoed most of the time in one place and another.
