Mon JULY 29. Quite nice again to day but it keeps very smoky and rather cooler than it was. Lew irrigated on the buckwheat and done other odd jobs. Bert chored around in the forenoon and raked oats in the afternoon. I mowed the oats then cut a small piece of alfalfa then went out with a scythe and mowed by the ditches.

JULY 30. Tues Oh how nice and smoky and warm. Mr Goodan came to cut wheat. Broke his pitman had to go to town and get another. Got the wheat about half cut. Lew set up. Bert hoed some in the forenoon and raked in the afternoon. I mowed the weeds up at the Whindy ill [Windy Hill] place and then irrigated from Laeimer [Larimer] Co ditch. Had 8 inches to right irrigated from our own ditch on buckwheat patch [Left margin:] 8 in to share

10 in to share Wed JULY 31. Nice again to day only the wind blew pretty brisk towards night. Lew and Bert finished setting up the wheat on the Windy Hill place and Mr Goedan got through cutting it. He broke another pitman to day. I irrigated a little but cant make much speed with 10 inches to the right and the ditches on a dead level but I done the best I could.

AUGUST 1. Thurs Lovely again. Lew irrigated on the timber claim with ten inches to the share and on the buckwheat with what water we want. Bert went to town in the forenoon and shocked in the afternoon Mr McBane started for home to day. I mowed on the hill piece all day and got along quite well and cut lots of hay too. [Right margin] 10 in to share
