AUGUST 10. Sat Threatened rain a good deal but didnt rain much of any. Lew went to town and after he got home he and Bert hauled the wheat gleanings. Bert raked them up. I irrigated the cornfield north of the house pretty well and got done just about time to quit.

AUGUST 11. Sun Good again with some threatning but narry [nary] rain. Lew and Meda went towards horse tooth. Their partners will join them in town I suppose and they have not got home yet so I have not heard what kind of time they had. The rest of us kept Sunday pretty well. Ida Nellie and Grace are here.

AUGUST 12. Mon Sprinkled a little about 3 Oclock. Otherwize [Otherwise] it has been quite a nice day. Lew and Bert cleaned out the milking yard this morning and in the afternoon took Mrs McBane to town as she was going to start home. Then he went up to the hills to fix some fince [fence]. Took Ida Mellie and Grace with him. Bert raked and shocked some. I mowed some but didnt feel well pleased with it.

AUGUST 13. Tues A little more rain about noon but not enough to do any good. Lew went hunting for Prince Kingsman on old Nets account and Frank agreed to bring him out to night. In the afternoon he hauled some poles and mowed some weeds etc. Bert and I ground the ledger plates to the mowing machine a couple of sickles and a scythe. Then I fixed the machine up and we worked at haying in the afternoon and got along pretty well.

AUGUST 14. Wed Fine and that is all there was of it. In the forenoon Lew looked up the job of cutting Hewards hay. The third cutting the bargain I believe is we are to irrigate the ground and cut and put it up for half and Mr Dixon and Will are to rake and haul the hay and we to cut it. Will Dixon came at noon. Him and Lew cleaned that straw stack out of the corrall [corral]. I mowed. I finished the wild meadow and cut some near the house. Bert raked.

AUGUST 15. Thurs Fine again and threatened rain some. Lew and Will hauled four loads of prairy [prairie] hay. Bert raked mostly but hoed a little. I finished cutting the piece this side of the house and then put in the rest of the day cutting on the 10 acre piece East of the cat fish lake. Got along pretty fine.

AUGUST 16. Fri Nice until about half past 3 then the started in to blow and it kept it up pretty hard and steady until about sundown. I mowed and would have got done if it had not have blowed. Bert raked most of the time. Lew and Will hauled hay. Would have got done stacking the bluestem if the wind had kept still but such is life. Some up and some down and we have to take it as it comes.

AUGUST 17. Sat Nice as ever. Lew and Will hauled hay Bert raked. I finished mowing the 10 acre piece east of the lake then worked at a gate for the Windy Hill place awhile and after Meda got back from town Mother and I got ready and went to Reas's had a nice time.

AUGUST 18. Sun Pretty fine again but threatened rain some in the afternoon and evening. Mother and I after visiting at Reas's until towards night. Then went to Mr Cays and had a nice little visit there. Then came home about a little after dark.

AUGUST 19. Mon About such a day as we have been getting for a long time. Lew Bert and Will hauled hay got 5 loads into the stack and brought a half load down and put it into the loft or will in the morning. I chored about at one thing and another and got the gate at windy hill all running in good order.
