OCTOBER 19. Sat Cloudy and cool all day. Lew went to town and hauled manure the ballance [balance] of the day. I worked at the wagon rack and got it about done.

OCTOBER 20. Sun Very nice to day bright sunshine still and fine. Reas's folks were here to day. They brought his brother Phil and Mrs and little Miss Dotts and Charleys folks came out about 3 O clock. We had a nice visit. Lew went this morning to take his cow and calf up to the ranch. They were at John Dragers and he expected John to go with him. He has not got back yet.

OCTOBER 21. Mon Cold damp and raw all day. Lew went up to the hills started about noon. Mr Lewis went with him. They may be gone four or five days. I mowed some this forenoon and this afternoon went over to P K Howards to a meeting of the Dry Creek Ditch Co and representatives of the Larimer and Weld Co Ditch to talk about enlarging the ditch to fill reservoirs.

OCTOBER 22. Tues Pretty fair day. I mowed.

OCTOBER 23. Wed Do weather. Ditto work.

OCTOBER 24. Thur Whew what a windy day but mostly clear so that the hay has dried lots to day [today]. I tried to mow during the forenoon but made very poor headway and I expect poor work too.

OCTOBER 25. Fri Lovely day to day [today]. Mr Dixon and Will hauled 4 good loads to day [today]. I mowed only. I took a little longer nooning than usual to visit with Mr W S Wilcox. He has got quite fleshy and I think from what he says that he is a pretty good lawyer.

OCTOBER 26. Sat Nice again. Lew and Mr Lewis got home at noon. They report that Will Smokes two colts and Mr Giddings two colts have been taken out of the pasture by some person or persons. Lew went to town this afternoon. I finished mowing over on the Howard ranch this forenoon and this afternoon I husked out some corn took out some squash seed and done some other chores.

OCTOBER 27. Sun Nice day mostly but not much of a hay day for it clouded up and threatened rain in the afternoon. Lew went up to the hill ranch with Mr Giddings to see if they could find out anything about those colts and he has not got back yet. The rest of us kept Sunday quite well I think.

OCTOBER 28. Mon Quite nice mostly but it clouded up towards night and looked quite squally and the wind is breezing up pretty strong to night. I went to town this morning and after I got home helped Lew haul manure till noon then we shucked corn afternoon.
