Mon Jan 1st 1894
The nicest day that we have had this year.
Clear still and warm. The boys filled
the pen for the fattening cattle this fore-
noon and this afternoon they kept new
year by having a jolly time skating on
the lake up north of the house. I
finished the head gate that will be put
in at the upper end of the alfalfa piece.

Tues Jan 2 Mostly clear but a little
windy most of the time. The boys got a good
load of Cottonwood. Mother and I got some goods
to make me some pants it is corduroy. Paid
4,05 cts [$4.05] for the stuff. Got permission to run
some water into the cistern when I can.
Cleaned out the little ditch some after I
came home.

Wed Jan 3 Had about 1 inch of
snow this morning but it has been clear all
day and has not thawed much. The boys say
there is not so much snow in Spring
Canion [Canyon] as here. They brought a very big load of
cottonwood to day. I fixed the little sled for
Perry and worked at fitting up bee hives the rest
of the day.

Thurs Jan 4 Cloudy mostly but
pleasant. The boys cut a good lot of wood.
I had a lot to do up at windy hill then
filed and set the big saw and Franks wood saw
and some other little tinkering.
