Fri Jan 5 Snowed a little last night and
a little more this forenoon and has turned quite
cold and the wind keeps up quite a
howl until afternoon then quieted
so the boys went and fed the beefers
and filled the hay pens. I didnt do much
but try to keep warm the thermometer
marked most down to zero.

Sat Jan 6 Pretty cold all day
but this morning from 6 to 11 below zero.
The Home Comfort rangers staid [stayed] all night
and Frank went with them up to Teds
but he didnt seem out of range so
they didnt go sell him one of them.
Lew went to town this morning and
got 1,700 lbs of coal and done some
other errands. It was rather too cold
for me so I staid [stayed] in.

Sun Jan 7 Sharp in the morn [morning]
but clear and not much wind. Lew and Mary
and Aggie went to town and are there yet for
aught I know. The rest kept Sunday
at home about as usual.

Mon Jan 8 Pretty fair day. Thawed
a little in the middle of the day. We got
two loads of ice into the ice house
and another one cut.
