Wed Feb 6 Cold as blazes this morning
and has grown colder all day and now is hugging zero.
The boys hauled a load of hay for the horses and some
wood and sawed some but it was too cold for real
comfort at anything. I didnt do anything
scarcely. Johny went to school.

Thurs Feb 7th Very cold this
morning about 10° below zero but got a little
warmer towards night. We hunted up some
old boots and shoes and clothing to send to the
Nebraska sufferers then the boys hauled
a load of hay and cut and split wood awhile.
I didnt get away from the stove much.
Johny went to school.

Fri Feb 8 Mostly Clear but pretty
cold 12° above zero this morning. The boys cut
wood awhile and about noon went to town and
Dan didnt come home. Johny went to
School. I fixed up and varnished Medas
bedstead.

Sat Feb 9 A sort of a gray day
and it snowed slowly all day. Johny and Lew hitched
up with Gabriel for one of the horses and drove around
and trained him some and being that it was cold
and stormy they laid off the rest of the day. Dan
came home just at night. I reseated 4 chairs
to day [today] which interested me quite a good part
of the day.
