The Committee of the Horticultural Society appointed to consider the proposition for the establishment of a new fountain opposite Mrs Hemenway's lot near Thistle Path, in Mt Auburn Cemetery _ (consisting of Charles M. Hovey, Marshall P. Wilder and H. W. Fuller) met this day at the office of said Fuller _ all being present; and after a full examination of the matter, and explanations had, it was by them unanimously _

' Voted _ that this Committee do approve ' of the plan for a new fountain on the bog land ' near Thistle Path, in Mount Auburn Cemetery, as ' explained by Doct. Bigelow, and do agree, in behalf ' of said Society, that they will relinquish for the purpose, ' all the right which they may have to any part of the ' proceeds of the following described parcel of land ' devoted thereto, and to be conveyed therefor, and for orna' mental purposes _ to wit _ Beginning at a point on ' Thistle Path, opposite Cactus Path, thence running ' westerly by said Thistle Path to Cistus Path; thence ' Southerly by Cistus Path to Cowslip Path; thence easterly ' by Cowslip Path to Cactus Path; thence northerly by Cactus ' Path to the point of beginning (exclusive of paths) contain' ing fifteen thousand two hundred and five (15,205) square ' feet, be the same more or less.

A monthly meeting of the Trustees was notified to be held on Wednesday, , at Four o'clock in the afternoon. At the day and hour aforesaid, Messrs. Turner, Perkins, Brewer, Lawrence and Snow were present, but, in the absence of a quorum it was

An adjourned monthly meeting of the Trustees was held on Friday, , at Eleven o'clock, A. M.

Present, Messrs. J. T. Bradlee, N. J. Bradlee, Bigelow, Brewer, Lawrence, Little, Perkins and Turner.

The records of the last meetings were read and approved.

Fitchburg R. R. Co. Claim of for Comn for destruction of tree. Report of Com. on Grounds Vote, &c.

A Report was received from the Committee on Grounds in reference to the claim made by the Fitchburg Railroad Co., for the destruction of a tree; said Report being comprised in a letter from the Superintendent dated , stating in full the circumstances of the case. On motion of Mr Turner,

Voted, – that the subject be referred to the President with full powers to hold such communication with, and make such explanation to the President of the Fitchburg R. R. Co. as he may think proper.

[ C. M. Hovey's offer to make payt in shrubs etc.,] for Lot selected by him declined

Hovey's letter being a proposal to purchase a Lot of 824 feet on the corner of Mound and Spruce Avenues at $2.00 per foot, giving his note for the same, and making payment in certain specified shrubs and plants. After a full consideration of the subject, – on motion of Mr Little,

Voted, – that the proprosition of Mr Hovey to make payment in shrubs and plants for a Lot selected by him be declined.

Monthly Schedule of Bills referred to President: with exception of Watertown Taxes.

A file of bills with acompanying schedule, having been submitted to the Board by the Treasurer, in compliance with the requirements of the By=Laws, and the schedule having been read by the President, who requested that the tax=bill rendered by the Town of Watertown might have a reference to the Committee on Finance; on motion of Mr Turner,

Voted, – that the aforesaid bills, with the exception of the tax=bill for 1872 rendered by the Town of Watertown, be referred to the President for his approval, and payment by the Treasurer, if found correct.

Voted, – that the above mentioned tax=bill be referred to the Committee on Finance to consider and report.

Memorial Work of Art. Horses liable to be frightened at.

Mr Turner in behalf of one of the proprietors (Mr Cheever,) called the attention of the Board to an official objection which had been made to placing the Sphynx in the assigned location as being liable to occasion fright to horses. A full discussion was had, but no action on the subject ^was recommended, or taken.

Tenure, &c of Lots Report [postponed.]

A Report was received, signed by Mr Choate, respecting the tenure and division of Lots, which subject was referred at the July Meeting to a Committee consisting of the Committee

subject of drainage into the Cemetery from the new street West of the Reception House, to the effect that they held the matter under advisement, but were not yet arrived at a definite conclusion, and would request that further time be granted. On motion of Mr Bradlee it was

Voted, – that the Committee have leave to report at the next meeting.

Lot sold Chas. M. Hovey (No 4205.) Non payment of Com. app. with powers.

The same gentleman having called the attention of the Board to the fact that Lot No 4205, at the corner of Mound and Spruce Avenues, reported , as sold to Mr Charles M. Hovey for $1648.– and in which a number of interments have been made, was still unpaid for, notwithstanding repeated demands made for payment; it was

Voted, – that the subject be referred to a special Committee, consisting of the President and Messrs. Choate and Bradlee, with full powers.

Treasurer's Quarterly Statements refd to Com. on Finance

The Treasurer's report of the receipts and expenditures for the quarter ending ; also his report of amounts due and uncollected for the same quarter; having been submitted to the Board it was
