over to the Norton Hargis ambulance Service. Had little meeting of the "Dirty Half Dozen" to decide what action we would take. Decided we would take our time & not jump at any conclusion in a hury. Would all act together. Had general meeting at 7 P.M. & addressed by Paul Cadman & Piatt Andrew. After they had finished we took a voat to see what we would do about going into the Convoi Service. The vote was unanimous in favor of going. Very busy all day getting equipment.

Baseball goods arrived. Paul Cadman showed us a good time on Elliot's mandolin.

Tuesday June 26. 17.

Went out on convoy at 3 P.M. Went with Holmes. Started out for Moussy with a load from Bazoches. Waited for darkness outside of Ouilly. Went on to Bourg and waited another hour as they were shelling the road. Learned that they were shelling Moussy very heavily so went to Chateau Soupir to unload. While being unloaded we were shelled. Wit. Write got under car. Saw the shells coming through the air in the darkness. Several of them landed within a couple of hundred ft. of us. Could feel the concussion. Got home at 4:30 A.M.

Thursday. August 16, '17.

Got up early and went out to headquarters at 9 o'clock to take my mental exam. Took all morning. Got my O.K. So did Wheeler & Higgans. Wheeler said that he had obtained permission to leave for the States on Saturday.

Had dinner at Pocardies. Saw Paul Cadman at the Cafe de la Paix. He was on his permission after completing his course at Maux. Peat Bangs also got through. Got my pictures just before train time. Had no trouble in buying a ticket. Told the military authorities that I had missed the morning train that my party left on with tickets and

Monday, August 20 '17.

Four o'clock convoi, to a station below (Coureanden) Fismes to Villers in Preyers. Took pictures of some big shells (280). Herb & I came home alone a short way. Beat the first ram in by an hour. Feeling rather low. Bad water.

Tuesday. August 21, '17

On the dish washing squad. A rotten job. Paul Cadman arrived in camp. Saw a Boche plain drop but recovered before he reached the ground. Great cheering from the boys. Cleaned car. Inspection by the Captain.

Wednesday August 22, '17

Wrote letters. Had one grand party for the boys that are to leave for Maux.
