felt strange at first with only one in it. It seemed to float around like a feather. My first landing was not too good as I made a wheel landing, and Purchas cussed me out good. The next time I came in there were some machines in my way, and I was going to overshoot so I gave her the gun and went around again. My second landing was better but still I didn't get my tail down. A big surprise came tonight when they announced no flying and no formations for tomorrow. I want to go down town, but am busted, and refuse to borrow any money.

Sunday June 30 '18.

Breakfast at eight this morning. Had a wonderful sleep. Got my first pay check as an officer from June 11th to June 30th. $97.19 or 553.97 francs.

Went down town with Perry and Al Cree. Had a fairly good time and got home at 11:30 P.M.

Monday July 1st 18.

Felt fine today. Had a terrible time in the air. On my first trip the buss had the best of me. It was blowing a gale and I couldn't keep from drifting and bankng clear over on one side. Bauer kept bawling me out, and wanted to know what had gone wrong with me.
