Dan Currier came back after smashing his second machine on voyage. Herb. Kendall left for Paris.

Thursday July 11, '18.

Lt. Kelly was killed on the field this evening in a Nieuport.

Friday July 12 ‘18.

Still stormy. Had an inspection by the inspector general in the rain this afternoon. I am mighty anxious to get out of here. We are being “ridden” as if we were Boche prisoners, or even worse. I can now see why some officers only go over the top once, and never come back.

Saturday. July 13 ‘18.

this year will get killed sure. He kept making remarks like that about the fellows in the air all the time. He had us all nervous before we went up. When we finished flying he lache all of us but Townsand, who made a bad landing and he wouldn't let him go. He said "Thank you fellows for you work. Lt. Spane said if I brought you fellows out here tonight I wouldn't have a machine left." There wasn't a wire broken, or an axle bent in the whole afternoon. A very good record.

Wednesday July 10 '18.

Didn't fly today, wind and rain. Currier came back after smashing his second machine on voyage. Herb. left for Paris.

Thursday July 11 '18.

I didn't get up today, bad wind. Lt. Kelly was killed on the feld at supper time tonight in a fall in a Newport.
