her apartments and laid on her bed all afternoon. Late in the afternoon Miss Gordon & Mrs. Wood & I went for a drive up into the mountains to a very stilish home. Came back & had dinner with them. Went to their apartments before they finished dinner as I was feeling low. Miss Gordon took me to the 10:40 train to Annecy. Krusi & Dick met the train and took me to their hotel.

An air raid alarm was given about nine o'clock tonight. The "penpushers" were greatly alarmed. Have spent most of the time playing poker.

At two o'clock this afternoon they told us that we were free men again. Mrs. Wood had given me an invitation to Christmas dinner but I had to turn it down as they didn't give us any idea as to when we would be out of quarantine. to leave for St. Maxent in the morning. Went out to say good by to Mrs. Wood and Miss Gordon. They loaded me down with good things to eat and plenty of reading matter. They have certainly been like a mother and sister to me. Have eaten at their place two or three times a week ever since I have been in Paris. back to the barracks this noon and found three letters from Hazel, one from Steve Barrows, one from Mrs. Wood and Miss Gordon. First mail in three weeks. -- Went on the machine gun range this afternoon and I shot the highest score of our squad of ten men. I got a score of 147 out of a possible 200. Won 25 francs. -- Heard that we are going to be in Gondrecourt an extra week. A new order, we have school from 7 until 9 P.M. besides our original time. All of us very peaved.
